Kabul Polytechnic University
(KPU) was founded in 1963 as Kabul Polytechnic Institute,
and it is the largest engineering and technical academic
institution in Afghanistan. In the past time its was
graduating in both undergraduate and graduate levels, but
now it is graduating undergraduate, and some departments
just started their master degree. There are five faculties
in KPU covering engineering and technical majors.
Kabul Polytechnic
institute provided education up to B.S. and M.S. levels and
the curriculum was delivered in five years including six
months practical training mainly in governmental
organizations. Because of the lack of industrial base in the
country, almost all graduates from Kabul Polytechnic
Institute were working in government organizations.
