The Pak-Afghan Joint Peace Jirga was held on 9th of August 2007 and
lasted for four consecutive days. The opening ceremony was addressed by
Afghan President Hamid Karzai and Pakistan Prime Minister Shaukat Aziz
on 9 August 2007 while the concluding session was addressed by President
General Pervez Musharraf and President Hamid Karzai.
This was the first historic event in which around 700 delegates from
both countries participated in order to have a face to face discussion.
The aim of the Jirga was to reaffirm and strengthen the resolve of two
brotherly countries for a sustainable peace in harmony.
